INTERVIEW MAKEUP: THE DO'S AND DON'TS

Thursday, May 05, 2016

If you read my latest life update then you know that I am about to graduate college and I have been applying to jobs. And with applying to jobs come interviews. Interviews are an employer's first impression of you and you need to make sure you make a good one! This means you need to be looking your best.

I thought I would share some of my do's and don'ts of interview makeup!

DO:
  • Wear makeup. I am someone who totally embraces no makeup but, for a job interview you should have at least the bare minimum.
  • Use your best makeup! Nows the time to use high end makeup because you want to look your best and like you care about your appearance so using the best quality products is ideal.
  • Use Neutral shades. On the eyes, on the lips, keep it neutral.
  • Wear bare or nude lips. I like to just put on a layer of lip balm and keep it natural but a nice pinky nude is also a good option.

DON'T:

  • Use a lot of colorful eyeshadows
  • Overdo the eyeliner. I tend to not use eyeliner at all during interviews because it can be too much.
  • Wear red lip stick
  • overdo the face makeup. I know you want to hide all your flaws and look put together but, having a cake-face is probably even worse than having nothing. I am very lucky and don't have a lot of acne so I go foundation free on these days.
  • Along with foundation, don't over bronze. You don't want to show up looking orange. Thats embarrassing and looks bad.
So basically my advice is to keep it super simple! My go-to look is a light eyeshadow (Sin and Baby from Urban Decay are the two I reach for most) with mascara and a little concealer. I also put on a little bit of bronzer and blush to add some color to my face, but be stingy with it and finish up by putting lip balm on to keep my lips bare but looking healthy!

I hope these tips are helpful as you go through the interview process!

See you soon!
x Emily
