Hello Lovelies!
The other day I went to my local Ulta Beauty with my mom because she wanted a new eyeliner and obviously I can't go into an Ulta and not pick up something (DUH!). I was browsing around when I saw the display for Tarte's Grav3yard Girl collab! In case you have been living under a rock and have no idea who I'm talking about Grav3yard Girl, a Beauty Vlogger, partnered with Tarte Cosmetics to create her Swamp Queen line which consists of a palette and 2 lip paints.
The palette kind of intimidates me because there is a lot of sparkle happening and I lean more towards matte. She also has another lip paint which is a bright red color that to my knowledge is sold out like everywhere. That leaves Texas Toast which is a beautiful dusty mauve color that swatched beautifully in store. As I was checking out I was talking with the cashier about the product and she was saying that it isn't considered a lipstick because it just sits on top of the lips which made me nervous that I was buying an expensive lipstick that was going to be a hot mess.
When I got home I was anxious to give the lip paint a real try. I was actually quite impressed with this product. I love the formula, it feels very light and creamy on the lips and is very comfortable to wear while also giving a true matte finish. I also really like the consistency, it gives a very even coverage and can be built up. The cashier was right in the sense that it just lays on top of the lips because I found this product not to be very long lasting.
The color of this lip paint is super interesting. Its one of those shades that looks completely different on the lips than on the hand. Its like a cool tones purple that totally gives your lips like a dead look (but n a good way, if there is a good way?) and I'm not gonna lie I kinda love it! This is a lipstick that maybe 2 or 3 years ago would have horrified me and I would never wear because it isn't a conventional lip color but I see myself breaking this bad boy out a lot this Summer and Fall (I have a feeling I'll love this in the Fall during Halloween :)).
Overall, I really really like this lipstick and totally recommend it but, if you are looking for a lipstick that will last all day and not have to reapply this is definitely not the one for you!
It actually looks a lot more brown and less purple in the pictures compared to in real life and I don't know why! |
Have you tried any products from her range? let me know what you think!
See you soon!
